About this chair exercise wheel
This chair exercise wheel turns a session into a game: spin, reveal the move and how many times to do it, and everyone joins in from their seat. The exercises are gentle, familiar movements often used in senior fitness and care home sessions, and you can change or remove any of them to suit your group.

How to use the chair exercise wheel
- 1
Check that everyone is sitting in a sturdy chair without wheels, feet flat on the floor.

- 3
Go at the pace of the slowest person, and skip any move that causes pain.
Ways to use this wheel
- Morning warm-up: Five spins before breakfast to get everyone moving.
- Music session: Play a favorite song and spin for a new move every verse.
- Group challenge: Count how many moves the group completes together in a week.
- Home routine: Families can share the link so a relative can follow along at home with a visitor.
Safety first
These are general, low-impact movements, not a medical program. Anyone with a health condition, recent surgery, dizziness or a fall history should check with their doctor or physiotherapist before starting, and staff should follow each person’s care plan. Stop straight away if anyone feels pain, chest discomfort, shortness of breath or dizziness.
Use stable chairs without wheels or arms that get in the way, keep water nearby, and make sure the floor around the chairs is clear. Movements should be slow and controlled, never bouncing or forced.
Keeping the session fun
Music makes the biggest difference. Choose songs the group knows and let the beat set the pace. Let a different person press Spin each time, and celebrate the group effort rather than individual performance. If a move is too hard for someone, offer a smaller version: lifting the heel instead of the whole leg is still a success.
