Spin the wheel to decide anything

A spin wheel is the simplest fair way to pick one thing from a list. Everyone can watch it turn, nobody can steer it, and the answer arrives with a bit of suspense. Teachers use this wheel spinner to call on students, families use it to settle whose turn it is, and streamers use it for free giveaways on air.

The wheel above starts with eight sample names. Replace them with anything: names, chores, restaurants, numbers or questions. Need a quick answer to one question? The yes or no wheel gives you one in a single spin. Picking a person? The wheel of names is set up for long lists. Choosing between a few options? Try the random picker wheel.

Every wheel is ready to spin and fully editable. Start with the category closest to what you need, then change the entries to fit your group.

How to spin the wheel

  1. Add your entries

Type names or options, paste a list with one entry per line, or import a CSV file. Pick a ready-made wheel from the library and edit it, or start from a blank one.

  2. Spin

Press Spin or the wheel itself. The result is chosen first by a secure random number generator, then the wheel animates to land on it. Change the speed, sound and colors in the settings.

  3. Share or verify

Remove the winner and spin again, copy a share link that carries your list, or embed the wheel on a page. For a draw people need to trust, record a verified draw that anyone can check.

More than a wheel

Some jobs need a different kind of picker. These tools use the same fair random engine and the same privacy rules, with no account.

Is the wheel really random?

Every spin picks the result first with your browser's cryptographic random number generator, then animates the wheel to land on it. Each entry's chance equals its share of the wheel. Nothing you type is stored on our servers. How our randomness works. Running a giveaway? Make it a verified draw that anyone can check. New here? See how to use the wheel.

Questions

Is the wheel spinner truly random and fair?

Yes. Winners are chosen with the Web Cryptography API (crypto.getRandomValues) and rejection sampling, which removes modulo bias. The winner is selected before the animation starts and the wheel is then animated to land on that result. Weighted entries use cumulative-weight selection with the same random source. You can check the distribution yourself on the How Our Randomness Works page.

How many entries can I put on the wheel?

There is no fixed limit. Paste as many lines as you like and every entry is in the draw. When segments become too thin to read, their labels are hidden automatically, and the winner is still announced clearly in the result window.

Can I remove the winning name after each spin?

Yes. The winner window has a Remove Winner button, and Elimination Mode in the wheel settings removes each winner automatically until one entry is left. That suits tournaments, classroom cold-calling and Secret Santa style draws.

How do I use this wheel inside OBS or Streamlabs?

Open the Streamer Studio page, copy the overlay URL into an OBS Browser Source, and pick a transparent or chroma-key background. The overlay has no ads or site navigation.

Can I save and share my custom wheel?

Yes. The Share button builds a link that stores your entries and settings inside the URL itself, so anyone who opens it gets the same wheel without an account. Saved wheels stay in your own browser storage.

Is WheelWhirl free to use?

Yes. Spins, themes, CSV import and export, and sharing are free, with no account needed.

Does the wheel work on a phone or tablet?

Yes. The page adapts to any screen size, the entries open in a panel on small screens, and full screen mode suits a projector, a smart board or a TV. Nothing needs to be installed.

Can teachers use WheelWhirl in class?

Yes. There are wheels for picking a student, forming groups, brain breaks and review games. Names stay in your browser and are not sent to us, so a class list is not uploaded anywhere.

What is a wheel spinner?

A wheel spinner is an online wheel divided into slices, one for each option you add. You spin it and it stops on one slice at random. It does the same job as drawing names from a hat, but everyone can watch the result happen.

Can I make my own spin wheel?

Yes. Clear the sample names and type your own options, one per line, or start from one of the ready-made wheels and edit it. You can change colors, add pictures, save the wheel in your browser and share it with a link.

What can I use a wheel for?

People use it to pick a person, settle a decision, choose what to eat or watch, assign teams and turns, run classroom games, draw a giveaway winner and add some fun to a stream. The library has ready-made wheels for each of these.
