About this 2 times table wheel
Spin this 2 times table wheel and it lands on one fact from the table, from 2 × 1 to 2 × 12. The answer stays hidden until someone presses Reveal, so students say their answer first and the whole class checks it together. Pairs are everywhere: socks, shoes, eyes, bicycle wheels. Ask "how many shoes do 8 people wear?" before revealing 2 × 8.

Ways to use this wheel
- Doubles relay: Line up two teams. The first player in each team answers the spun fact as a double ("double 8 is 16") and passes the pen back. The first team to answer six facts correctly wins, and saying it as a double is part of the rule.
- Partner practice: One student spins and checks, the other answers, then they swap after six facts.
- Mixed review: Once a week, switch to the Multiplication Facts Wheel to mix this table with the others.
Tricks for the 2 times table
The 2 times table is doubling: 2 × 6 is just "double 6". Most children already know doubles from adding a number to itself, so this table is the best place to show that multiplication is repeated addition. Every answer is even, which gives a quick self-check: an odd answer is always wrong.
Counting in twos (2, 4, 6, 8, 10...) is the other way in. Have the class count along while the wheel spins, then stop on the fact the wheel lands on.
The 2s facts that trip students up
The facts past 10 cause most mistakes: 2 × 11 = 22 and 2 × 12 = 24. If a student hesitates on 2 × 7, ask for "double 7" instead; the answer usually comes faster in that form.

Frequently asked questions
Why are all answers in the 2 times table even?
Multiplying by 2 makes two equal groups, and a number made of pairs is always even. If a student gives an odd answer, it is wrong.
What should I learn after the 2 times table?
Most schools teach the 10s and 5s next because they follow simple patterns, then the 3s and 4s. The 4s are the 2s doubled, so they build straight on this wheel.
What is the easiest way to learn the 2 times table?
Treat each fact as a double. 2 × 9 is double 9, which is 18. Counting in twos out loud helps too, and every answer is an even number.
What is 2 × 12?
2 × 12 = 24. Think of it as double 12, or 2 × 10 = 20 plus 2 × 2 = 4.
What is on the 2 Times Table Wheel?
It opens with 12 entries: 2 × 1, 2 × 2, 2 × 3, 2 × 4, 2 × 5 and 7 more. Spin it as it is, or change the list to match your group.
