A d20 on a wheel
Twenty numbers with equal odds make this a stand-in for the 20-sided die used in tabletop role-playing games. Roll for attacks, skill checks or random encounters when the dice are missing.
It is just as useful for classroom drawings, picking a page number or choosing a number for a guessing game.
Fair play
The winning number is picked by a cryptographic random generator, so every result has the same 5% chance. A natural 20 can come up twice in a row, which is normal randomness. Use Remove winner after each spin to draw each number once.
Rolling a d20 without the die
The twenty-sided die is the signature dice of tabletop role-playing games. This wheel gives each of the numbers 1 to 20 a 5% chance, the same as a fair d20. Use it for attack rolls, skill checks, saving throws and random encounters when the dice are lost or when you are playing online and want everyone to see the roll.
Many tables treat a 20 as an outstanding success and a 1 as a notable failure, though the exact rules depend on the game and the group. Agree on that before you start, so a roll on the wheel is as binding as one on the table.
Advantage and disadvantage
Some games let you roll twice and keep the higher result (advantage) or the lower (disadvantage). On this wheel, spin twice and compare. Advantage lifts the chance of rolling a 20 from 5% to about 9.75%, and it makes a low result much less likely. The wheel is independent on each spin, so the two results never influence each other.
Twenty is a handy size for a class
A group of twenty students, twenty questions or twenty items fits the wheel exactly. Number the students on your roster, spin to pick one and use elimination so nobody is chosen twice before the round ends. For a quiz, number twenty questions on a sheet and let the wheel decide the order.

Frequently asked questions
Is this random enough for RPG critical rolls?
Yes, powered by window.crypto.getRandomValues, it provides true cryptographic randomness.
Is the wheel as fair as a physical d20?
Yes, and arguably more so: a real die can be slightly uneven, while each number here has exactly the same chance.
How do I roll a d12 or d10 instead?
Use the custom range wheel to set the lowest and highest numbers, or edit this wheel and delete the entries above your die size.
Can I roll two d20 at once?
Spin twice. For several results at once, use the multiple winners option in Settings, which draws without repeats.
