A film for tonight’s fireside

Holiday movie lists are long and everyone has a favorite. The wheel includes classics such as Home Alone, Elf and Christmas Vacation, plus the perennial debate pick, Die Hard. Spin to choose what to watch and skip the argument.

Make a night of it with cocoa, blankets and a rule that the wheel’s pick is final. If the movie has been seen too often, spin again.

Planning a marathon

To plan a December marathon, turn on Remove winner after each spin and make a schedule from the results. Check film ratings before watching with children. Add the movies your family loves, including animated and religious films, so the list reflects your traditions.

Ordering a December watch list

Start with one film for family time, one for adults and one for children, and let the wheel decide the order. Longer classics fit weekend evenings, and shorter ones fit weeknights. Many families keep one film for Christmas Eve and never let the wheel touch it.

Remove any title you have watched this year to avoid repeats.

Planning a December watch list

Start by listing the films your household loves, then add a few you have never seen. Use the wheel to set the order, with one film a night for the busiest weeks. Reserve a special slot for Christmas Eve, and keep it out of the wheel so it stays a tradition.

With ten films and a month to fill, the wheel prevents rewatching the same one. Turn on Remove winner after each spin to cover every title once.

Choosing for mixed ages

Younger children may enjoy animated classics and family comedies, while adults may want something sharper. Check the age rating of each film, and plan an early showing for children and a later one for adults. Home Alone and Elf are broadly family-friendly, while Die Hard and some others are better after bedtime.

The Die Hard debate

Whether Die Hard is a Christmas movie is a long-running argument. It takes place at a Christmas party and has a holiday soundtrack, which many fans consider enough. The wheel includes it for exactly that reason: it adds a little friendly controversy to the draw.

Making a movie night special

Prepare cocoa, popcorn and blankets. Dim the lights, silence phones and let someone choose the snack theme. Try themed treats such as cookies shaped like characters from the film. After the movie, ask everyone for a one-word review, and keep a tally across the season.
