Words children see all the time
A small set of high-frequency words, like the, and and you, makes up a large share of what children read. Knowing them by sight frees attention for harder words. The wheel gives each word an equal chance, so practice does not skip the easy ones.
Students can read the word aloud, use it in a sentence or spell it. Short daily practice works better than one long session.
Using your own lists
Many schools use the Dolch list of 220 words or the Fry list of 1,000. Paste your class list into the entries panel, one word per line. For beginners, keep ten to twelve words on the wheel, and replace words as they are mastered.
